Telematics projects rarely rely on a single device. Most deployments combine several components: GPS trackers, sensors, dashcams, MDVR systems and monitoring platforms. Depending on the project, some of this equipment may already be installed, selected by the customer or required by the integrator.
In this article, we explain how sensor integration works, why compatibility may differ between devices, and where to check which trackers, dashcams, MDVR systems and adapters are compatible with Escort sensors.
What sensor integration actually means
In a typical telematics setup, sensor data passes through several stages:
Sensor → tracker / dashcam / MDVR → monitoring platform
The sensor sends telemetry data, the receiving device collects and processes it, and the monitoring platform displays the information to the user.
For the integration to work correctly, the receiving device must do more than simply support Bluetooth or a serial interface. It also needs to correctly recognize the sensor protocol, identify the required parameters inside the data packet and transfer them further to the monitoring platform.
For example, the device must understand:
- where the fuel level or temperature values are located;
- how these values are encoded;
- which parameters should be transmitted to the platform.
This is why two devices with similar interfaces may behave differently in practice: compatibility depends not only on the physical connection, but also on how sensor data is interpreted and processed on the receiving side.
Why compatibility may differ between devices
Several factors can affect compatibility, including:
- available interfaces such as BLE, RS-485 or RS-232;
- firmware implementation on the receiving device;
- configurator capabilities;
- support for the required communication protocol;
- the manufacturer’s readiness to implement or maintain integration support.
In some cases, the receiving device can process sensor data directly. In others, an additional device such as the Escort BA-BLE adapter is used to transfer BLE sensor data through RS-232 or RS-485 interfaces.
Data transmission and remote configuration are different levels of integration
Most telematics integrations are built around stable data transmission. The sensor sends readings, the receiving device collects them, and the monitoring platform displays the data for the customer.
Remote sensor configuration is a more advanced integration scenario. It may involve:
- changing sensor settings;
- working with passwords;
- adjusting filtration parameters;
- unloading Black Box data.
This requires deeper implementation on the receiving device side, including stable long-duration Bluetooth communication and correct handling of multiple commands and responses. Because of this, remote configuration is not supported by every manufacturer.
For most projects, this is not a limitation. Sensor setup and diagnostics can still be performed through the Escort Configuration app, while the tracker, dashcam or MDVR is responsible for receiving sensor readings and transmitting them to the monitoring platform.
Because compatibility depends on a specific combination of devices, the next step is to check whether the required equipment is already listed as supported.

When planning an installation, we recommend checking the exact device model, firmware version and connection method. A device may support the required interface, but real operation can still depend on how sensor data is processed on the receiving side.
If you cannot find your device in the compatibility table, it does not necessarily mean that integration is impossible. The device may not have been tested yet, the integration may require additional configuration, or support may depend on cooperation with the receiving device manufacturer.
